World Cup Warm-ups

From now through June 9, 1998, Yahoo! coverage of the World Cup will provide users with a preview of the tournament, which kicks off on June 10 with a match between defending champions Brazil and Scotland. The site features a dynamic front page with up-to-the-minute information including the main football stories of the day, Web resources, event groupings, and travel and weather information. Agence France Presse, Reuters International, Sports Informations Dienst, and SportsTicker(r) deliver news headlines and breaking stories on the players, teams, and managers. In addition, users can obtain World Cup rankings and full historical details on the winners of each of the past World Cups since 1930. Yahoo! coverage of the World Cup also offers a detailed schedule for fans to track teams from the opening games to the final. In addition, the site provides chats and message boards, so fans can interact live with other users around the world to discuss teams, players, future matches, rivalries and events of France'98.

In the run up to the tournament, Yahoo!'s coverage will enable football enthusiasts to check out current team news, photos, study player biographies, follow the countdown to the final team selections, and evaluate the competitiveness of each group on each of the participating 32 countries' pages.

Kicking Off on June 10: World Cup Tournament Coverage

In addition to the news and information offered in the days leading up to the World Cup, Yahoo! coverage of the tournament will deliver game previews and details of matches, the latest scores, statistics, photos, reviews and group standings, beginning June 10 and continuing through the World Cup Final on July 12.
