Brits’ scruples are tested as Valentine’s Day arrives! Says New Research From Yahoo! UK & Ireland

LONDON - Feb. 13, 2001 - A Valentine’s Day Scruples survey carried out on Yahoo! UK & Ireland, in which over 8,000 people were polled, today revealed that 70% of us are kind and caring, as we would send our single friend an anonymous bunch of flowers or a card on Valentine’s Day to help keep them cheerful.

The poll on the other hand shows a distinct absence of scruples by many couples as over half of us would check our partner’s post on Valentine’s Day for a card from somebody else! However, the results show that there is no need for this mistrust as 75% of those taking part would tell their partner if they received a card from a mysterious admirer.

Over three quarters of respondents think it would cost too much in expensive presents and candle lit dinners to stay with someone that they don’t like on Valentine’s Day and therefore encouraging them to dump their partner quickly!

However there is no need to worry, Yahoo! UK & Ireland and Debenhams will be rewarding some of the respondents with a beautiful bunch of flowers to help make their Valentine’s Day this year extra special.

"We were pleased that the poll showed a positive result with three-quarters of respondents telling their partner if they received a card from an admirer. Valentines Day however does seem to test our scruples with over half of us rushing to sort through our partner’s post." said Lindsay Biggart of Yahoo! UK and Ireland.
