Relationship will facilitate online account integration with Yahoo! Finance and My Yahoo!
October 6, 1999 - Yahoo! Inc. today announced a relationship between Yahoo! Espana and Openbank that will bring Openbank account information directly to the users of Yahoo!® Finance and My Yahoo! in Spain. Yahoo! users will have the ability to stay up to date on their Openbank account balances and transactions, check e-mail and share prices, read news from Spain and around the world and use Spain's favourite Web guide - all from one secure and convenient location. This service will give registered Yahoo! users the ability to easily and securely view their Openbank current checking and savings account balances, as well as transaction history, each time they go to Yahoo! Finance or My Yahoo!. This service is expected to be available later in this quarter. In addition, users of Openbank's free Internet access service will have a direct link to Yahoo! Spain from their home page. "We are delighted that Openbank is the first online financial institution for this service in Spain" said Javier Extebeste, managing director, Yahoo! Spain. "Our relationship with Openbank enhances the overall online experience for Yahoo! users, allowing them to view their personal bank account details in the same location as they access other Yahoo! information and services, such as personalised news, share portfolios, and other content from Yahoo!'s global network." Ana Maria Llopis, managing director of Openbank added, "This is the first relationship of its kind in Spain and confirms again Openbank's determination to constantly innovate in its client services as it promised at its launch. Through this agreement with Yahoo!, Internet users now have another way of accessing their information. This relationship with Yahoo! greatly enhances the services we offer our current and potential users." Safe and Secure The new service provides users with secure online access to their bank account information. Both Yahoo! and Openbank employ the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) security standard that is widely used by popular Internet browsers and merchants transacting on the Web. During transmission over the Web, SSL encrypts data to protect it from being read by anyone other than the intended recipient. All financial transactions - such as transfers between accounts - are securely performed on the Openbank Web site. Yahoo! also has taken steps to provide additional security on its site in order to protect the users' account data. In addition to a Yahoo! ID and password, users will create a Yahoo! Security Key, a separate password designed for secure services. Users will be prompted to verify their Yahoo! Security Key when they access their Openbank account balances or transaction information from Yahoo! Finance or My Yahoo!. Verification of the Yahoo! Security Key, as well as any display of the personal banking information, is always done over a secure connection. Yahoo! Spain (www.yahoo.es) is the local Yahoo! site in Spain. It offers local language information and services services dedicated to meeting the needs of local consumers. The Yahoo! offices in Madrid have been open since November 1998.
