|
LONDON, UK - Sept. 15, 1999 - Yahoo! Finance and My Yahoo! to Launch Innovative Online Account Access in the UK Yahoo! Inc. today announced a relationship between Yahoo! UK & Ireland (http://www.yahoo.co.uk), the UK's favourite Web guide (Fletcher Research, June 1999), and National Westminster Bank Plc, that will bring NatWest account information directly to the desktops of Yahoo!® Finance (http://finance.yahoo.co.uk) and My Yahoo! (http://my.yahoo.co.uk) users in the UK. Yahoo! users will have the ability to check e-mail and share prices, read news from the UK and around the world, use the UK's favourite Web guide, and stay up to date on their NatWest account balances and transactions - all from one secure and convenient location. This service will give registered Yahoo! users the ability to easily and securely view their NatWest current checking and savings account balances, as well as transaction history, each time they go to Yahoo! Finance or My Yahoo!. This service is expected to be available during Yahoo!'s fourth quarter. In addition, users of NatWest's new NatWest Online free Internet access service will have access to Yahoo! UK & Ireland from their home page. "We are delighted that NatWest is our first European financial institution for this service," said Steve Boom, director of business development, Yahoo! Europe. "Our relationship with NatWest enhances the overall online experience for Yahoo! users, allowing them to view their personal bank account details in the same location as they access other Yahoo! information and services, such as personalised news, share portfolios, and other content from Yahoo!'s global network." Andy Ross, director of strategy and electronic commerce, NatWest, said, "This is the first relationship of its kind in Europe. Internet users will be able to seamlessly access their NatWest account information through Yahoo!. This relationship with Yahoo! greatly enhances the services we offer our users."
Safe and Secure Yahoo! also has taken steps to provide additional security on its site in order to protect the users' account data. In addition to a Yahoo! ID and password, users will create a Yahoo! Security Key, a separate password designed for secure services. Users will be prompted to verify their Yahoo! Security Key when they access their NatWest account balances or transaction information from Yahoo! Finance or My Yahoo!. Verification of the Yahoo! Security Key, as well as any display of the personal banking information, is always done over a secure connection. Yahoo! Europe is comprised of the local Yahoo! sites for the UK & Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Norway and Denmark. Each site offers local language information and e-commerce services dedicated to meeting the needs of local consumers. The Yahoo! offices in London, Paris, Munich, Milan, Madrid, Stockholm and Copenhagen are staffed by local nationals, and Yahoo! Europe is headquartered in central London.
