Picks of the Week: April 19th 1999

We've had fun discovering those sites that make Yahoo! UK & Ireland one of the best places to find UK or Irish sites, so we thought we'd share a few with you. If you have any suggestions, please send us a note about them. Also send any general thoughts or comments about Picks of the Week or even suggest sites you'd like us to consider for the next issue. Ever feel like you're in one of those "anti" kind of moods...?

After last week's Spice Girls related picks we thought it was time to redress the balance. Remember Mr T from The A-Team? He don't like them foo's. You can witness our gold-jewellery-clad hero battle it out with them in two fun-filled episodes. Mr T Versus The Spice Girls and as an extra bonus, Mr T Versus The Spice Girls 2: Spiceworld.

Meanwhile, those Teletubbies are still on a quest for global domination. But not everyone out there is a fan it would seem... The Teletubbies Death Chamber provides an amusing selection of animated images of Dipsy, LaaLaa, Tinky Winky and Po suffering all manner of grotesque mutilations. And when you're there, don't forget to scroll all the way down the page for an interesting take on the Roswell alien.

As "Jedi fever" grips the nation and continues to gather pace, there's no escaping Star Wars. A couple of years back it was Titanic that was making all the headlines. Here's a page that shows no respect for both films, pitching them in a battle to the death: Star Wars Vs Titanic won't please the fans of either... unless they've got a sense of humour that is. And talking of Titanic, you can see Mr T in action again, this time on a mission to save the world from the evil clutches of Leonardo and Kate.

When it comes to movies, Mr Cranky is a hard one to please. For frank, honest and downright obstinate film reviews, this is the site to visit... the latest releases will get an "almost tolerable" rating at best. Still, reading Mr Cranky's words of wisdom is an entertaining experience, and sometimes you just can't help agreeing with the guy.

Finally, there's that little box that sits in the corner of your living room. Apparently, the average Brit spends four hours a day glued to their TV set. The folks at White Dot are on an anti-television campaign. They reckon TV ruins your life and that Digital TV has the capacity to spy on you. As well as featuring International TV-Turnoff Week (which runs from Thursday 22nd April) they also have a bundle of virtual reality pages for you to peruse.

But anyway, we've gotta go... EastEnders is on in 10 minutes...
