Picks of the Week: March 29th 1999

We've had fun finding the sites that make Yahoo! UK & Ireland one of the best places to find UK or Irish sites, so we thought we'd share a few with you. If you have any suggestions, please send us a note about them. Also send any general thoughts or comments about Picks of the Week or even suggest sites you'd like us to consider for the next issue. Click here if you only want to view the list of sites.

Easter is almost upon us and just think... you'll get Good Friday and Easter Monday off work. Here at Yahoo! UK & Ireland we never stop, priding ourselves on bringing you the best of the Web, and wishing you all a Happy Easter.

The folks at The Easter Pages bring you all manner of goodies... message boards, gifts, games and Easter facts. If you fancy yourself as a bit of an artist, you can win £100 by painting an Easter Egg, and the lucky winner will have it displayed for all to see on Scotland Online.

SimplyFood has gone all out to bring you an Easter Eggstravaganza (sorry). From the history behind the humble Easter Egg to spot-the-difference games and the opportunity to E-mail an egg to a friend, SimplyFood will provide plenty of eggcitement over the Easter Weekend.

Chocolate. Yummy. Easter Eggs... Mmmm... The Cadbury web site will have you salivating at the thought of all those virtual Creme Eggs. Here's a site that gives you plenty of things to sink your teeth into. There's the history of the company, recipes, a virtual tour and your chance to win a year's supply of Fuse Bars. Now if that's not eggcessive, I don't know what is...

If all this talk of chocolate has failed to eggshilarate you (enough of the 'egg' puns already, I hear you cry), why not check out a different kind of Easter Egg... the computer kind. Easter Eggs are little hidden programs and messages in your software, usually requiring a combination of key presses to unleash their magic. You can find out all about them at The Easter Egg Archive. A game of pinball in Word? The Hall of Tortured Souls in Excel 95? Perhaps the folks at Microsoft have too much time on their hands...

Bunnies... bunnies... mustn't forget the bunnies... How about the Bunny Survival Test? Oh yes. Marshmallow bunnies subjected to cruel and heartless testing whether it be laser-blasting or electrocution. It's enough to make you weep... all that marshmallow going to waste... but fear not - it's only for fun.
