Film Unlimited
Welcome to Picks of the Week, which comes to you live from the sun-drenched termite mound of madness that is the
Cannes Film Festival.
Just kidding. We too are stuck in the office, but we're not going to be left out of the fun, oh no. Here's Film Unlimited from The Guardian
to save the day! This baby is crammed full of news and reviews from the world of film and there is, of course, a special Cannes report
for those of us marooned in Blighty. And if you're one of those people getting all excited about Star Wars
Episode II
, you'll find the latest reviews and screening times (across the UK) for this and many other films.

Dog Soldiers
One of those recently released 'other films' is this fabulous werewolf movie from first time British director Neil Marshall. Okay,
so we're only supposed to review the web site, but the Picks Central consensus is that this film rocks. An old school UK
horror movie with an ultra-modern (and hilarious) script, Dog Soldiers looks set to become a cult favourite. Sean Bean stars as an
Army officer in charge of a unit of lads who'd rather be at home watching the
England versus Germany match - especially when
they fall foul of a pack of vicious beasties. Check out the site for some fun interactive stuff, especially the (frankly bizarre)
'Blairwolf' game.

An American Werewolf in London
Purely by coincidence like, we also sniffed out this marvellous site dedicated to the DVD release of John Landis'
classic An American Werewolf in London.
Twenty years ago, audiences went wild over the film's stunning transformation effects
(not a byte of CGI here folks), bizarre humour - oh, and Jenny Agutter in a nurse's uniform. The site is heavy on the animation, but
once it has loaded up, you'll find yourself 'inside' the beautifully rendered 'Slaughtered Lamb' pub. Here you can get your teeth into
the FX gallery, John Landis interview and trailer - so if you haven't seen the film before (shame on you) you can get a taster.

The Z Review
Movie madness reigns supreme at The Z Review. Originally dedicated to reviews of films that are 'either bad, boring or formulaic' the site
has expanded over time to include all kinds of cineaste treats. The design is kind of rough and ready, giving the whole thing indie appeal, and
the reviews are provided by UK film fans. The 'Made in Britain - Coming Soon' is a little disappointing, mainly due to the lack of recent
news on British film projects, but the rest of the site has more than enough news and reviews for you to pass the time with. And we loved the
'set photos' scoop from
The Hulk, which shows two cranes and a truck in a deserted street!

Eurovision Song Contest 2002
Now if you think that all the Eurotrash will have nothing left to do when Cannes winds down on May 25th, think again. Garish and
unspeakable horrors will descend on the quiet township of Saku Suurhall, Tallinn, in Estonia for the 2002 Eurovision Song Contest.
Take a look at the leather clad beast that is Michalis Rakintzis
(the entry from Greece) - or if that's just too scary, may we
recommend Estonia's finest - pert pop pixie Sahléne? Oh okay, we'll stop taking the Michalis - the UK entry is a Pop Idol reject
(only joking, Ms Garlick!) but our money is on her for sure. Oh, and drop by the site for news headlines like, 'Sheep dogs from
Haapsalu secure the Eurovision Song Contest'... Now there's value for your Euro.
