Picks of the Week: 22nd October 2001

Divorce is never an easy thing to explain to children, which is why the folks at children's charity NCH have developed this site. With separate sections for parents, teenagers and children, and a lively, colourful appearance, it is accessible to all and provides different perspectives on how to handle divorce. The main aim, however, is to help children adjust to a new family situation, and reiterate that they are not to blame for the breakdown of their parents' relationship.

Euro Times

It's not long now till the euro becomes the standard currency throughout most of Europe, and the Irish are busy preparing for it's introduction on January 1, 2002. The campaign to raise awareness of the euro and its implications has been going full tilt for a long while now, but reports are showing reluctance amongst the public to involve themselves. This excellent site from The Irish Times will hopefully change that, and provides a wealth of information on the EU, the euro itself, glossary, and an outline of just how this major financial transition will affect businesses and the general public.

The Wombles

Look what we found while womblin' free on the Internet. This official site of the classic children's show details how it all began, and how it's come back to a TV near you. There's an interactive tidying up game (which is much more fun that it sounds), information on the author, as well as all the latest Womble news. In the gallery, our old favourites Uncle Bulgaria, Orinoco, and Tomsk mingle effortlessly with the new folks Stepney and Alderney. All together now, "Underground, overground..."

Matt's Star Wars Personality Test

Answer honestly, now... are you a little on the Dark Side? Or is the Force strong with you? Maybe you're just a big, hairy walking carpet? There are loads of personality tests doing the rounds, but this is surely the only one for Star Wars fans. The scruffy lookin' scoundrels at Picks are already getting excited about the release of "Episode II: Attack of the Clones" next summer, and the Web is once again proving to be our favourite source of rumours, ahem, information.
