It's going to be a white goods Christmas at Prizebuy, a rather excellent new shop selling all kinds of appliances and home electronics from names you'll recognise. The selection includes clock radios, fridges, tumble dryers, camcorders - the lot. We especially liked the Buying Tips, which explain much of the jargon and productspeak you'll encounter when reading product descriptions. Shoppers in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland get free delivery. Can't beat that! Who doesn't love computer peripherals? Peats Electronics, the long-standing Dublin electronics retailer, is now online with a good selection of its merchandise, including zip drives and those nifty new memory sticks. Peats also specialises in the decidedly unsexy but important bits like connector leads, USB cables and sound cards. Okay for computers? You can always browse or search the exhaustive catalogue of everything from home electronics to solar motors. No matter what they say, guys like to smell good and look clean - and Bloke.ie is there to lend a hand. If you're a bloke, or just shopping for one this season, check out this nice selection of no-nonsense soaps, moisturisers, shampoos, shaving accessories and more. The whole site is searchable by price, if you know just how much you'd like to spend. For shopping with a minimum of fuss, they've even gathered bits into gift boxes - including a premium gift box featuring a great big fluffy bathwobe to keep his widdle body warm. Women need merchandise too this season, and the iVenus Shop is a good first shopping stop. The shop is the commercial offering of the online women's magazine iVenus, and these folks have gathered an impressive range of gifts including lingerie, manicure sets, jewellery, and toiletry gift boxes. The women's gifts are just one section of the shop - also included are flowers, men's gifts, DVDs, electronics and children's gifts. The gifts seem to have been selected by smart shoppers and can probably save valuable time on your holiday shopping, no matter who you're buying for. Far less elegant than iVenus but with big appeal is the online holiday catalogue from Clerys, the famous Dublin department store. The site is clumsily designed but the selection of gifts in their catalogue is quite attractive - desklamps, bedspreads, golf shoes, and a toys section that's been thoughtfully divided into gifts for boys, girls and both. Pity the checkout facility is a bit wobbly, and the instructions for sending credit card details separately were difficult to find. Still, the free Dublin delivery will be enough to lure many shoppers in. |
