Picks of the Week: 30th April 2001

Hello Pickers! This week, Picks are brought to you by the number 5 and the letter B.

Beau Rêve

"Can you remember when your childhood bedroom was your entire universe?" ask the talented folk at Beau Rêve. Apparently, there was a time when, "That small space could be anything you could imagine - A fairytale castle, a cartoon jungle full of brightly coloured animals, a space station on Mars or perhaps an underwater wonderland with mermaids and seahorses?" Hmmm, our bedrooms were always of the 'fantasy rubbish dump' variety. Seriously though, if treating your young ones to themed rooms is going to appease the little blighters, this site has plenty of fabulous ideas.

Bee-Tee

Once you've tidied your rooms, you might be allowed to play outside. Bee-Tee has lots of pictures of big, bouncy inflatable play structures. And that's about it, but we were amazed at how much fun it is looking at these things. For example, the 'Space Adventure' inflatable features crawl holes, a slide, and built-in 'biff and bash'. The piece de resistance can be found in the 'Water Play' section and carries the grand title, 'Sea World Pool Adventure'. Now, where did we put that foot-pump?

Bob the Builder

If something were to go wrong with our play structure, who would we call to fix it? That's right children, Bob the Builder is our man! This site is very red, very interactive, and lots of fun. It might take a while to load, and will force your browser window to go all cinemascope size, but once you're in, you'll be building houses and painting them in no time at all. The Bob site at Nick Junior has lots on offer too, with character galleries, games, and an 'adult area' with TV listings and colouring-in printouts. Can we fix it? Yeah!

Bee Improvement and Bee Breeders' Association

If you're bee-having yourselves, we might let you have a look at this bee-autiful site. It has a wealth of information about our stripy winged friends and the organisation which looks after them. There are some fascinating articles about the 'Apis Mellifera Mellifera', or 'dark', 'brown' or 'black' honey bee. After reading 'An introduction to understanding honeybees, their origins, evolution and diversity' you'll bee buzzing with useful information...

Until next time, bee good.
