Picks Picks of the Week: 2nd April 2001

"Fools rush in where wise men fear to go, but wise men never fall in love so how are they to know?" or so we heard at Picks Central. Lucky for us that we have guidance counsellors to help us through the trials and tribulations of the mating ritual known as, "Cutting some rug." We needed to brush up on our two-step for sure. And breakdancing is still like a game of Twister for us, but we're working on it. The, ahem, step-by-step tutorials here will help you get round that handbag in no time. Or in four-four time at least. Talking of handbags, you might be surprised to learn there is something of a renaissance happening with Essex girls. Apparently, their preferred font is Black Chancery and they have taken to singing Madrigals instead of football chants. No longer swilling Babychams, Essex babes have taken to mulled wine as their poison of choice. Marvel at the speed with which high heels and mini-skirts have been replaced with medieval gowns of plush velvet. Whatever next - flying gerbils? Don't be disappointed rude boys! If the news about the nouveau-riche in Essex has left you wivvahht a date for the weekend, you can find the latest clobber here. Biggin' up yerself has never bin easier, innit? This special stuff will have you wowing the ladies in no time. Just don't wear the tie with the breadbin - they'll clash. There are togs here for the ladies too. Well, velvet might go out of fashion, you never know. Weird isn't it? People go on about strange stuff all the time as if it's all real. You know the sort of thing - mad coincidences and strange lights in the sky. Some people even believe that big cats are roaming free in the West of England. We at Picks Central like to keep open minds however, and there's still no explanation for our abduction a few weeks back. Only popped out for a few drinks and then - whoosh! It seemed like a whole week had passed before we came round. And we all had splitting headaches. Probably the radiation from the spaceship. Or something... Obi Wan Kenobi said, "Who is more foolish? The fool, or the fool who follows him?" Well, they're both pretty daft when you think about it, which is why the guys at Farenet have come up with a plan. Basically, by educating people about the problem of football racism at sporting venues from March 30 to April 8, they hope to drive home a Europe wide message: "We will not allow racism to spoil our game!" And that, dear Pickers, is no joke.
