Do you harbour an unfulfilled desire to throw yourself out of a plane, get your car rammed by complete strangers, or dive with man-eating sharks? We recommend you seek professional help, but if you're determined to flirt with danger, you could do worse than this site. Everything from wandering the wilds of Borneo to going for a jaunt on the Orient Express is on offer here. For the less adventurous, there are all sorts of shiny bits of kit to catch the eye, including motor racing merchandise and the RAF standard issue watch. Do you spend your days gazing out the window, idly dreaming of the day Eminem becomes Prime Minister? Or do you wish you could stock the cabinet with TV chefs, back benchers, and maybe even William Hague? Your wish can come virtually true, thanks to the New Statesman, who allow you to put your ideal cabinet together, scoring them on their press reception each week. At the time of writing, Labour spin supremo Alastair Campbell is at the bottom of the heap, with a massive minus 218 points. A week is a long time in fantasy politics, though, so who knows? A slightly more serious take on politics, this site reports on development issues, with news stories on topics like health, debt relief, peacekeeping, and globalisation. The focus is on what's happening in European and World organisations like the European Parliament and the UN, and it's brought to us by the Welsh Centre for International Affairs, "A national forum for individuals and organisations in Wales to exchange ideas on international issues, and actively to campaign to promote world peace, human rights and international understanding." Let's just hope Anne Robinson doesn't find out about it. We like our strange corporate architecture here at Picks Central, and it doesn't come much stranger (or more corporate) than this. The Ark is a curvy office building in Hammersmith that has won plenty of design awards, with a shape that reminds you more of a ship than an office, and a huge atrium in the middle with lifts climbing the internal walls. The site is equally well designed, with pictures and videos, floor plans, and a history of the building. It's aimed more at potential tenants than curious surfers, but well worth a look anyway. Since 1973, our pink, curly-tailed chums have been sunning themselves in the Bahamas, waiting for Britain's hour of greatest need. Finally, their time has come, and once again they are taking to the airwaves, a guitar in one hand and a helium balloon in the other. Their site will have children and their parents squealing with pleasure, with colouring-in, memorabilia, and a history of the great musical pair. Best of all are the snippets of song, from a strident Blockbuster to a soothing You Are Everything.
