"Where drinking is made more fun" this site proclaims, and who are we to argue? This is certainly an intriguing site. A large section of it is really business-to-business stuff for pub and bar owners - pumps, drain trays, ashtrays, signs, and so on, but there's the other totally fun side which sells a huge variety of pub gizmos, gadgets, and memorabilia. The table football was certainly an eyecatcher at Picks Central (as if we don't play enough already), but we also liked the round pool table, Guinness posters, and best of all the Ideas section, where you get to see how really obsessive some Brits are about their booze.
Just released this weekend, this is the official site for the UK release of the movie starring Hugh Laurie, Geena Davies, Jonathan Lipnicki (the cute kid from Jerry Maguire), and a little white mouse called Stuart Little, voiced by Michael J Fox. The movie covers his adventures, usually escaping from the cats, and the site mimicks the film with its small Shockwave games - escaping from mazes, boat races, that kind of thing. Undoubtedly the movie is "fun for all the family" too. Not just another gardening portal, this site allows users to design their garden in a style of their choosing, then purchase plants and other accessories online. First of all, you take the questionnaire, to see which garden best suits you - whether you prefer modern or old-fashioned, sparse or wild, and so on. Once you're done, your hosts Bella and Viv will prepare a border design for you, providing of course that you send them £25. After that, or at the same time if you feel bold enough, you can buy all the plants and garden accessories you need, and they'll be delivered to your door. Another site offering cut price cars has come online, this time courtesy of those kind folks at Direct Line. But there's a lot more here than just classifed ads for cars. The car buying section outlines some special offers, and there's good savings on listed prices, but also you can enter your price range or style of car, and the site will try and find a match. In addition, JamJar.com offers finance and insurance services, there's news and reviews of the latest models, a route finder, rental links, and more car-related stuff than you can point a stick at. We're putting on our retro hats now for our final pick, after all, we're all just so damn trendy here at Picks Central... This site is for a store based in Nottingham that specialises in retro 1950s to 1980s furniture and accessories. The design is suitably smart on the site, simple, sparse, but effective nonetheless. There's some very funky looking stuff to buy here too, all of which have pictures, but watch out, some of those prices are pretty steep. It costs money to be cool.
