The latest version of Messenger includes these cool features. Remember that you need to download and install Yahoo! Messenger on your computer before you can use it.
Now you can log in to Messenger and not appear online. This is perfect for times when you just want to check your email or stock alerts but don't want to be contacted by friends. When you're in Invisible Mode, you can still receive and send instant messages. How to do it: Just click "Status" and select "Invisible Mode." If you always want to log in under Invisible Mode, click "Login," choose "Change User / Login...," and select the "Login under Invisible Mode" box. Say whatever you want on your Status Message, such as "Working at home," "Playing hoops," or "Walking the dog." How to do it: Just click "Status," choose "Custom Message," type your message, and click "OK." Now you can send files, attachments, and images (up to 1MB) to Friends. Note: Your files will remain on our site for approximately one week. We'll introduce peer-to-peer file transfer soon. How to do it: Just right-click on a Friend and choose "Send a File / Attachment."
Add a nickname, phone number, and email address to everyone on your Friends list. Yahoo! Address Book is integrated into Yahoo! Messenger, so you need only enter this information once! How to do it: Just right-click on a Friend's name and select either "Enter Email Address" or "Enter Nickname / Address Book Info." When you're done entering the info, move your mouse over your Friend's name, and you should see a tooltip (a yellow box) pop up with the info you entered. You can also right-click on your Friend's name and choose "View Nickname / Address Book Info." Once you've associated an email address with a Friend's name (find out how), you can send an email through either Yahoo! Mail or your client email program. How to do it: Just right-click on a Friend's name and choose "Send Email." personalise your Messenger with a picture of your dog, baby, spouse, or whatever artwork you like. Choose from these user-created themes or create your own! Use the My Yahoo! settings to receive instant info through Messenger. How to do it: To hide or show any of your content tabs, just click "Edit," choose "Preferences," then choose "Appearance," and select the tabs you want to see in Messenger.
