YAHOO! SEARCH INTRODUCES SITE EXPLORER BETA
Yahoo! Search today launches the beta version of Site Explorer (yahoo.co.uk/siteexplorer) a free tool for webmasters to help optimise website architecture using quick and easy analysis of site URLs. Site Explorer easily exposes all known URLs and inlinks for a particular site, showing users exactly what knowledge and URLs Yahoo! Search holds on its index. The Yahoo! Search Site Explorer helps improve the ease with which sites can be analysed and optimised by empowering webmasters with a quick, easy way to submit URLs to Yahoo! Search and view all inbound links to a chosen website. Information gleaned from Site Explorer can then be used to help make decisions regarding website architecture and inbound links, providing users with an invaluable tool to ensure their sites are up to scratch.
To explore a site, users simply submit a URL using a Yahoo! search box, just as they would for a normal web search. Site Explorer from Yahoo! Search then displays the total number of matching URLs from the website, which are included in the Yahoo! Search index. Webmasters then have the option to sort these URLs in multiple ways and can submit and tell Yahoo! Search to crawl any number of URLs from one to a list URLs through prominently displayed "Submit URL" links.
"Yahoo! Search Site Explorer is part of our vision to make Yahoo! Search the front door to content, by working with content publishers and webmasters to help make their content more accessible and easier to analyse. We listened to what webmasters wanted and we will continue to listen to their feedback over the coming weeks," said Salim Mitha, Director Yahoo! Search UK and Ireland. This early beta version strengthens Yahoo! Search's support for the web development community, whose invaluable feedback will be incorporated into future versions of the product.
