PRODUCT NEWS - YAHOO! SEARCH INTRODUCES UK VIDEO SEARCH BETA
Yahoo! Search today announces the release of Video Search public beta, available on the yahoo.co.uk front page. The new product from Yahoo! enables internet users to find and directly view video clips from across the entire web, including content from major news and entertainment companies, as well as from the entire Yahoo! network.
Yahoo! has several feed relationships with major entertainment providers, giving users the ability to view even more video clips found through Yahoo! Video Search. It is the first video search product on the market to use closed-captioned content from prominent broadcast TV news partners to quickly locate specific search terms and let users view all clips immediately.
As well as video feeds from entertainment providers and closed captioned content from TV news providers, Yahoo! Video Search enables video content publishers to upload video clips directly into the index using mRSS (Media Real Simple Syndication) technology, a format already embraced by the online community.
Users will also be able to access the wealth of unique video content available across the entire Yahoo! network including Yahoo! Movies, Yahoo! Music and Yahoo! News. As with video clips found on the web, from news and entertainment content partners, every single video clip found on the Yahoo! network will be immediately viewable, just by clicking on the search results.
Salim Mitha, Director of Yahoo! Search UK, comments; "Yahoo! Video Search offers UK internet users exactly what they want - the ability to quickly find video clips on the net and watch them immediately. Our users can find everything from music videos and news stories to movie trailers and sporting highlights, there's something out there for everyone. Yahoo! Search will continue to expand our relationships with major entertainment content providers to allow for even deeper and real-time content as the product evolves."
