CULT WEBSITE VOTED YAHOO!'S PEOPLE'S CHOICE 2004

Yahoo! Search today announces the winner of its annual Finds of the Year awards. From 7th January until 14th January, the public voted to decide the People's Choice by choosing from 2004's ten best websites at yahoo.co.uk/findoftheyear2004. Of this impressively diverse list, Weebl's Stuff has proved the greatest Find of all, taking over 40% of the votes and claiming the coveted People's Choice title.

Weebl's Stuff's victory is the culmination of Yahoo's celebration of 2004's most original, humorous and useful websites. In a year-long project, Yahoo!'s Search team considered 1000s of websites and recruited a panel of independent experts to decide on 2004's top ten. Weebl's Stuff (weebls-stuff.com), awarded 'Best Entertainment' website by the judges, now wins the ultimate accolade, Yahoo!'s People's Choice.

Weebl's Stuff is a cult website packed with hilarious cartoons and clever animations. Voters were charmed by the surreal adventures of Weebl and Bob (weebl.jolt.co.uk/history1.html), the marvellous breadfish (weebls-stuff.com/toons/46/) and the frenzied badger dance (badgerbadgerbadger.com).

In second place is The British Library's stunning site, Turning The Pages (bl.uk/collections/treasures/digitisation1.html). The site allows webusers worldwide to virtually turn the pages of some of Britain's most treasured possessions. Unroll The Diamond Sutra, the earliest dated printed book or explore Leonardo Da Vinci's awe-inspiring notebooks. To view the two most popular websites, along with the rest of Yahoo!'s Finds of the Year 2004, web fans can log onto yahoo.co.uk/findoftheyear2004.

Salim Mitha, Director of Yahoo! Search, UK and Europe comments: 'Yahoo! Search conducts Finds of the Year because it's a great way to illustrate everything you can get from the internet that you can't find anywhere else. Our winner and runner-up are so utterly different it's the perfect way to show that the depth and breadth of the web means there is quite literally something of interest for everybody.'
