Yahoo! Desktop Search Beta Launched
Yahoo! Search has unveiled Yahoo! Desktop Search Beta, a free application available for download at http://desktop.yahoo.com. Consumers can now quickly search through the thousands of emails, attachments, documents, music files, images and videos stored on their hard drive and instantly find what they are looking for.
Yahoo! Desktop Search identifies over 200 file types and provides instantaneous search results. Using award-winning technology developed by X1 Technologies Inc, it has a number of unique features not available on most other desktop search product. This includes:
The most comprehensive search results, spanning over 200 different file types including Outlook and Outlook Express email; word, PowerPoint and excel documents, PDFs, html files, mp3 music files and more
Results that are displayed as fast as you type in a search query
The ability to find and play audio or video files without launching a separate media player
A preview window that allows you to view entire files within Yahoo! Desktop Search without opening them
