Yahoo! UK & Ireland appoints Simon Hinde as UK Editor
Yahoo! UK & Ireland today announced the appointment of Simon Hinde as UK Editor. The appointment marks Yahoo!'s concentration on delivering quality editorial content, and the company's commitment to its role as a major global media company.
Formerly Assistant Editor at the Daily Express, Simon will be responsible for overseeing editorial direction for all areas of Yahoo! UK & Ireland. Simon's 20 years of experience in financial, social and political issues reporting, as well as previous responsibility for comment and leaders sections, and managing an editorial team will ensure that Yahoo! continues to deliver high quality editorial to its 13 million unique users*.
Simon will report directly to Fru Hazlitt, Managing Director of Yahoo! UK & Ireland, and will be working closely with Peter Grimsdale who in July of last year was appointed European Editorial Director. A key area of Simon's role will be to develop promotional campaigns similar to last year's successful Pop Idol Diaries, Victoria Beckham's Secret Diary, and the Channel Five New Year's Eve Show.

Before becoming Assistant Editor at the Daily Express Simon edited the personal finance and business sections for the same paper. Prior to that, he covered consumer affairs for the Sunday Times and was a senior editor at Which? Magazine. Simon has written for the Financial Times, Mail on Sunday, Management Today, Spectator and New Statesman and has been a commentator of BBC Radio 4 Today Programme, BBC Radio Five Live and regional drive time radio programmes.
